This ETHEREAL JAZZ QUARTET recording depicts Richard's journey into jazz, from his first jazz music lesson from the late David Gross, at 51 years of age, without the ability to read music in 1993. The following ten years he started to learn the language of jazz and to read it. Hence the recording date in January 2003. He calls himself a late bloomer. I see a beautiful flower and a bright star emerging. The title tune, "footprints", is a tribute to the God of his heart, whom, he says, raised him up when he was unable to walk and transported him when
his wings had forgotten how to fly. "Footprints" is always the first tune played on every live gig. It is then, if at no other time, we know why they call themselves "ETHEREAL". Richard has surrounded himself with the best in the business on bass, piano and drums. All of them bandleaders in their own right. We invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy.
